AGM 2025
It is that time of year when the National Supervisor Forum Executive Committee outlines its plans for our Annual General Meeting (AGM).
As highlighted at our 2024 AGM, the cost of hosting in-person events such as venue hire and accommodation continues to rise significantly each year. These ongoing increases have a considerable impact on the finances of individual credit unions.
To achieve a practical balance, our vision is to host one-day in-person training initiatives throughout the year. This ensures that valuable networking opportunities are retained while managing costs and environmental impact. Where possible, venues will be selected with convenient public transport links, in line with our environmental sustainability policy.
Recent changes under the Credit Union (Amendment) Act 2023, particularly those affecting Board Oversight Committees and Boards of Directors, remain an important consideration. Notably, Section 28 of the Act reduces the minimum number of required Board meetings per year from ten to six.
In parallel, regulatory focus on technology and operational resilience continues to intensify. The recent Central Bank IT Thematic Review underscores the importance of strong IT governance, cybersecurity risk management, and system oversight in credit unions.
These priorities align with the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), which came into effect in January 2025. DORA introduces a harmonised EU framework to strengthen the digital resilience of financial entities, ensuring they can withstand, respond to, and recover from ICT-related disruptions. The Forum is committed to supporting Supervisors and Board Oversight Committees in understanding and implementing these obligations through ongoing guidance and training.
Taking all of these factors into account, the Executive Committee has decided, similar to our approach in 2024, that the 2025 AGM will be held online, complemented by an in-person training initiative in 2026.
